MONEY:
for our proposed "Mini-Monastery" / Retreat Center
This is a very sensitive issue for us. Churches are always holding their hands out for money. Sad. But, the truth is that The Love Church could use some help, if (and only if) you are in a financially comfortable enough position to offer it. We would like to build a "mini-monastery," a teaching and healing center where people could come for weekend seminars, week-long retreats, or even to stay for a prolonged period of time as members of a community of love and support. We would also train new ministers here, conducting an on-site program leading to ordination. We're trying to buy several acres with a small lake or large pond and build simple spirit-enhancing cabins and a small auditorium for lectures and workshops. If you have been blessed with a financial surplus, we would be honored to receive your assistance. 863-441-3000.

OUR ACCREDITATION
As a church denomination with its own degree-granting educational institution, we have achieved accreditation from the Association of Accredited Bible Schools.
We have not sought regional accreditation by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Commerce. While our being accepted by The Association of Accredited Bible Schools is an important indicator of our excellence as an educational institution, regional accreditation is often needed for transferring credits to other colleges and universities. If you intend to transfer credits earned here to other schools or online Bible Colleges or Bible colleges with campuses, it is important to check with them to determine what criteria they require.
The Love Church's seminary, The Center for Ministerial Studies, and our sister institution, Saint James College, award degrees that are 100% legitimate and can validate your academic background, credit your real-life experience, and assist you in obtaining promotions and professional stature.

RELIGION NEWS DAILY
Love Church Daily Religion News, Hot News You May Not Find Elsewhere!
The Reverend Gretta Vosper of Toronto’s West Hill United Church says that it’s time for Christianity to drop the age-old preoccupation with traditional essentials such as the virgin birth, the sacrament of baptism, Christ’s divinity, miracles, the Holy Eucharist, the resurrection, and so forth.
In her new book, “With or Without God: Why the Way We Live is More Important Than What We Believe,” (published by HarperCollins), Vosper says that she doesn’t want Bibles or crosses in churches. The pastor, who doesn’t want to be called “Reverend,” says that the only reason there is a Bible or cross in her church is that some older congregants want them.
Vosper says that she looks forward to a time “when the label Christian won’t even exist.” She adds that the term is antique and that the Church should be “freed of the burdens of the past.”
“The central story of Christianity will fade away,” she claims.
In her book, Vosper refers to Jesus as a “Middle Eastern peasant with a few charismatic gifts and a great posthumous marketing team.”
The controversial pastor says that she pictures a future in which there are no independently-existing religious denominations. Vosper says that it is her vision that everyone will “share common values,” the only obvious differences being cultural traditions.
Ms. Vosper is the founder and chair of the Canadian Centre For Progressive Christianity, which which espouses the position that the Church should engage in a “complete overhaul of the beliefs it has been carrying about for the last several hundred years.”
Gosper says that contemporary people’s lives should be “in the current paradigm, being progressive enough to let go of the beliefs and traditions to which we’ve had to tip our hats and curtsy in the past but which can no longer prevail in our contemporary world.”
Ms. Vosper recalls her days in studying divinity at Queen’s University in 1990 and admits that recitation of the creed made her very uncomfortable. She writes in her book, “I fled when I had to read the creed.”
Rather than a focus on the traditional tenants of Christianity, Vosper suggests that Love is the most important thing for tomorrow’s religious adherents to embrace. “We call it love, radically inclusive love. It is here, in the caring, challenging, prophetic role with which it is so familiar that the church can really shine.”
Vosper’s view is, of course, in wide variance to traditional Christian churches.

Relevant musings about "things" and what's important in life
Our community has a great nature trail that winds through a mostly wild area. Residents have made a project out of maintaining it and seeing that there are lovey trees, shrubs, and clusters of beautiful flowers along the way. Here and there, you may be delightfully surprised by a small sign or plaque that suddently appears around a bend.
This morning, I was strolling down this trail, communing with God and nature, when I spotted the following etched into a small stone, leaning upright against a tree, surrounded by deep red Impatiens:
The best things in life
Aren't Things....
While that's simply one of those pithy quotes one finds in gift shops and on greeting cards, there's a deep meaning there...one worth pausing for...and reflecting upon.
We're told that "you can't take it with you" upon leaving this earth. Yet, those of us who believe that our "soul" and personality continue on, what we can take is our memories, the joys we've experienced. The little rock along the nature path is a poignant reminder that its the remberances of our shared conversations, the wisdom we've gained, and the memory of the smiles we've shared can come with us when we've completed our earthly sojurn. These "non-things" ... should be gathered and cherished more, I believe, than the homes, cars, golf clubs, and flat-screened tv's that traditionally seem so important to us.
I'd love any input you may wish to share:

Blessings!

We're A Positive-Thinking,
Love-Based Christian Denomination ... but Don't Give Us Your Money, Unless....
"Don't put any money in the collection plate!" was the instruction from the minister in the pulpit, "Not one dime!" As his words reverberated around the church, one by one, the stunned parishioners sat up, looked at each other, gazed at the pastor in disbelief, Ah-hem-ed, and wondered what was coming next.
The Love Church pastor went on this way:
"Why are you here this morning? Because your parents always dragged you to church when you were a child ... and there's still enough momentum to roll you in here every Sunday, even after all those years? Or, are you here because you want to be seen by your neighbors? Or, are you sitting here this morning because you're afraid that there may actually be a hell and you're in church to purchase a ticket to Heaven instead?"
"Friends," the pastor said in a warm, confidential tone, "Christ was very clear that we're supposed to be living a good life here on earth, irregardless of what we'll find when we reach Heaven. He said over and over that we should ask for what we want, seek, and he would help us find, ask the 'Father' in his name and it would be granted. Even in the Lord's prayer, he taught us to ask for our daily bread.... He went over to Mary and Martha's house to dance and sing and swap stories. He hung out down at the beach with his buddies (the disciples), and built campfires and went fishing. And, we're called to be Christ-like!
Don't put any money in the plate if coming here isn't helping you and your family live a better life, right now, today, in a practical way. We're supposed to have abundance, reasonably good physical, mental, and spiritual health. We're supposed to have successful and loving relationships with our wives and husbands, parents, and our kids, and our neighbors. We're supposed to be in jobs that we enjoy. We're supposed to be able to laugh and sing and dance and be glad to be alive, not to be struggling under the weight of drudgery and despair. We're not supposed to have to 'believe' in God through 'Faith' but, instead, we're supposed see that we are a part of God's existence, an integral part of Creation itself...and we're supposed to 'see' or sense God in our hearts and in our lives and in those we encounter through the day."
"If church isn't helping you find the doorway to that Kingdom that Christ said is within, right now, today, then why come here and give away your money? But, if you're doing well, or (eyes twinkling!) at least see signs of improvement, keep coming back and sharing the with the rest of us that Love and Peace and Abundance that Jesus said is our birthright!"
That's what our denomination, The Love Church Worldwide, is all about! If you want what we have, come on, join us! Help build the community of Christian love ... take one of our classes ...
attend a workshop ... join our on-line community ... and learn how to live your life in balance and harmony and peace and prosperity! And, once your "cup runneth over," be sure to share it with others. Remember, the "kingdom" is built one soul at a time! As we sing, "Let There Be Peace On Earth, And Let It Begin With Me!"
